Pittsburgh Technical College Earns Best for Vets 2023 Ranking for Distinguished Military Student Support
(OAKDALE, Pa., January 2, 2024) – Pittsburgh Technical College (PTC) was recently ranked in Military Times 2023 Best for Vets, the most trusted and comprehensive college veteran ranking system, recognizing the College’s exceptional support and resources for veterans and active military service members.
Each year, Military Times publishes a list of the best schools that actively recruit, retain, and support service members and their families through noteworthy programs and resources. Schools receive a ranking based on their military-connected employment programs, military benefits, and levels of support, which are assessed by data collected from the Department of Education and Department of Veteran Affairs. PTC earned this best-in-class ranking for its distinguished veteran programs and active military support services, offering students access to tuition funding programs, lifelong professional career development, course and curriculum flexibility, and designated campus resources.
“We take great pride in supporting our veterans,” said PTC President Dr. Alicia Harvey-Smith. “By offering a wide range of resources, programs, and support services, we help to ensure that their academic and professional careers are a success.”
PTC’s specific military offerings and benefits include:
- Options to take fully online classes, making it possible to earn a degree while deployed
- A generous deployment policy and a welcomed return if called to active duty
- Faster movement through programs as a year-round student
- Eligibility to apply for DANTES funding for no-cost career planning and education

- Eligibility to apply for out-of-state tuition funding with the Yellow Ribbon Program

The Best for Vets list educates students on the resources offered by each institution, helping them make informed decisions that might influence their enrollment. Schools are ranked based on their military-connected employment programs, military benefits, and levels of support.
