About PTC
75 years of career education that’s as real and relevant as it gets.
Lots of colleges claim to be career-focused, but they’re only catching on (and up) to what Pittsburgh Technical College has provided for 75 years: Education that helps to prepare students for career success. That’s not marketing hype, just the real deal. Here’s why.

Our graduates launch their careers in high-demand fields with education that pays off: 96% of our available 2022 graduates are working in their fields.*
PTC’s approach to careers starts with the curriculum; it’s project based and grounded in the world of work, with regular tune ups from program advisory boards comprising the region’s top employers. An Academic Chair here describes a PTC education as “hands-on and heads-in.” That pretty much sums up an academic experience that’s real world and rigorous.
Career Services, with emphasis on career and services.
First quarter students work in tandem with Career Services in the classroom, and this close partnership continues throughout their program as an essential part of the curriculum. We go way beyond the typical last quarter resume writing class, although our students learn how to shine there, too. Students actively network with employers who regularly visit our campus to gain exposure, conduct mock interviews, and get themselves in front of the people who are hiring.

Central to the mission of Career Services is that 100% of PTC’s degree-seeking students experience onsite internships or clinical rotations, or employer partnerships in capstone projects, before they graduate.* It’s this kind of experience that can give them a leg up on the competition. It’s also the kind of experience that can lead to job offers before graduation.
By the time students walk across the stage to receive their diploma, they’ve learned not only how to get the job but how to succeed on the job.
Who we were. Where we are.
You may have heard of PTI, or Pittsburgh Technical Institute. That’s us, or used to be; we changed our name in 2016. We are a nonprofit academic institution with a vibrant, active campus community that sits on top of a picturesque hill in Robinson, 11 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. This is a stimulating and fun place to learn, visit, and meet your future colleagues. While you’ll work hard here, you’ll also have fun here.

Are we a best-kept secret in Pittsburgh?
Only to some. To you and others who step foot on our campus for the first time and thrive and graduate, not so much.
Schedule a personal visit and tour. Talk with faculty and students. You’ll like what you see.
