Welding Graduate Receives “40 Under 40” Award
Sean Myers, a 2016 Pittsburgh Technical College Welding Alumni, is a maintenance mechanic supervisor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was recently honored with the “40 Under 40” award. This award was presented at the Inland Marine Expo and recognizes him for his outstanding contributions to the inland marine transportation industry.
Sean started his career after graduation as a welder with the Pittsburgh District Repair Fleet. He quickly began expanding on his abilities by joining the Corps’ Working Diver Program as part of the Regional Rivers Repair Fleet in 2017 to take on underwater installation efforts. In 2018, he served in a developmental role as a working leader, and in 2020, was selected as a maintenance mechanic supervisor and job foreman for the Medium Capacity Fleet where he supervises and manages up to 15 personnel each shift. Their command element is based out of Huntington, WV, and their fleet is based out of Neville Island, Pittsburgh, PA.
We are so proud of Sean’s accomplishments in the past few years, and know his future will be bright moving forward. Not only is this an exceptional award to receive, but it goes to show that the welding industry holds many career opportunities and paths—some even underwater.
