
About the President
Alicia B. Harvey-Smith, Ph.D.

Alicia B. Harvey-Smith, Ph.D., was appointed President of Pittsburgh Technical College(PTC) in Oakdale, effective July 1, 2019. In her role, Dr. Harvey-Smith will partner with the Board of Trustees and campus community to create a common vision for the future of the college. She will be responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction of all aspects of PTC, including academics, student life, as well as faculty, staff and student diversity. Anticipating future workforce needs, Dr. Harvey-Smith will lead the institution in developing new educational programs that are responsive to regional and global needs and position PTC graduates as career-ready in their chosen fields.
Dr. Harvey-Smith is a senior-level professional in higher education with 30 years of successful experience. She is a scholar-practitioner committed to leadership excellence, institutional performance and student success. She has positively influenced the lives of countless students, faculty and administrators. Her experience in higher education is diverse, expansive and comprehensive.
Prior to joining PTC, Dr. Harvey-Smith served as Executive Vice Chancellor of Lone Star College in Houston, one of the largest college systems in the country. In that role, she served as the accreditation liaison, was directly responsible for functions related to both academic and student affairs and administered a broad range of operations supporting six college campuses, eight academic centers and two university centers serving 99,000 students annually.
