Web/UX Design

“PTC helped support my career goals by giving me an education in a wide variety of Web Design and Development areas. The education I received has made me a valuable candidate in the job market and provided me with a wide range of skills. These skills have helped me obtain milestones in my career in a short amount of time. I am in a senior-level position with less than two years in the field.
I cannot recommend an education from PTC enough; it has truly changed my life, and the professors and staff have become close colleagues and are still an invaluable resource in my ongoing career.”

2020 Multimedia Technologies, Web Design and Development graduate
Design, build, and program web sites. This program shows you how.
Web designers, UX designers, and web developers are problem solvers, creative engineers, and skilled professionals whose work fills the screens that are all around us.
In our Web/UX Design program, you’ll learn to apply design thinking to create compelling webpages, screens, and interfaces, and code them to streamline the user experience on tablets, mobile devices, desktops and laptops. You’ll develop skills in both the design and programming aspects of the web.
You’ll study front-end basics like layout design, typography, color theory, and digital imaging, and apply that learning to design sites for everything from mobile devices to desktop computers. In addition, you will:
- Learn to use content management systems and create server-side code to retrieve dynamic data.
- Design interfaces for a wide world of screens and environments.
- Write code to power highly interactive systems and applications.
- Animate screen elements to enhance the user experience.
- And diagnose and troubleshoot code errors.
You’ll also learn HTML5 and CSS3, interactivity, and JavaScript, and build the back-end skills you’ll need to make websites powerful using PHP, XML, JSON, and MySQL languages. And you’ll study and apply the latest technologies to streamline development, including SASS, Bootstrap, jQuery, WordPress, Angular and/or React, and GitHub.
This program will teach you to build wireframes, prototypes, and responsive websites. You will work the problems and devise the solutions, then apply everything you’ve learned to a real-world internship that can open your eyes to the realities—and opportunities—that lie ahead.
You’ll enter the workforce equipped with a personal website to showcase your work and your talents to potential employers. And enter the industry as a designer, front-end coder, UX designer, or even go to work for yourself.

Student Work
The projects shown in this gallery were created by PTC’s Web Design and Development students. By the end of their second quarter, students know how to design web pages for mobile screens that rearrange their layouts responsively for wider screens, too. By the end of their fourth quarter, students have designed and developed an online store, and a browser-based smartphone app that lets users make custom choices as it remembers their selections. In subsequent quarters, students create projects using popular technologies like WordPress. Every student participates in a required internship before graduation, giving them well-rounded experience in a real-world setting.
